On 15 January 2008 the Lithuanian NGDO Platform was officially registered with 17 member organizations on board.
The principal mission of the Platform is to influence the Development Cooperation policy and to enhance its implementation through professional experiences of its member organizations.
The main objective is to bring together development stakeholders, in particular NGOs and state institutions, governing bodies and local authorities, for joint actions and exchange of experiences and views on global development issues.
The Lithuanian NGDO Platform faces the double task of supporting and strengthening its member organisations (information, training, work with donors, politicians and the media) as well as representing them and promoting their values to the public both in Lithuania and abroad.
The main field of activities of the Platform is networking, with a focus on awareness raising and development education.
Currently the Lithuanian NGDO Platform joins 19 NGOs with major competences in policy development, democracy building, strengthening of civil society, social issues, poverty and social exclusion, equal opportunities, sustainable development, environment protection, capacity building/training, humanitarian aid, fair trade, health, human and children’s rights:
